CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI, U.S.A., June 21, 2016: The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Extrusion Division has presented the Jack Barney Award to Dennis Paradise, director of business development for Nordson Corporation’s EDI™ range of flat extrusion and coating dies.

Mr. Paradise received the award plaque and a $1,000 honorarium during the recent SPE ANTEC® conference in Indianapolis.

The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the flat sheet industry. It was initiated by the late Frank Nissel of Welex (now part of Graham Engineering Corporation) in honor of Jack Barney, who founded flat die manufacturer Extrusion Dies Industries (EDI) in 1971. Nordson acquired EDI in 2013.

Dennis Paradise entered the plastics industry in 1984 when he joined McNeil & NRM, Inc. Subsequently he held sales management and executive positions with HPM Corp., Krupp Plastics Machinery, and Dynisco LLC before becoming North American sales manager for EDI in 2003. In 2011 he left EDI to become senior vice president of sales for Processing Technologies International (PTi) and held that position until returning to the EDI business under Nordson in 2014.

Mr. Paradise has served on committees of the SPE Thermoforming Division and the Machinery Division of SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association. He is a member of the Plastics Pioneers Association. He holds a bachelor degree in business administration from Kent State University in Ohio.

Dennis Paradise is the 27th individual to receive the Jack Barney Award. Four previous honorees spent at least part of their careers at EDI.
